Learning to Read the World from Multiple Perspectives: Peace Education toward Diversity & Inclusion
The National Peace Academy’s National Dialogue Dinners are intended to foster thinking and conversation on critical issues related to peace, justice, community well-being, and change. These dialogues are motivated by the National Peace Academy’s understanding of peace that is found in the Earth Charter: “peace is the wholeness created by right relationships with oneself, other persons, other cultures, other life, Earth, and the larger whole of which all are a part.”
The National Peace Academy is co-sponsoring the Peace and War Summit being organized by the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western Reserve University. This week-long conference will involve every one of the schools at Case and bring together scholars from many nations, to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue among military ethicists and those who work in peace studies or conflict resolution. These scholars will be joined by military personnel currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, and a broad cross-section of persons representing other fields, to discuss issues which affect everyone.
Community Inquiry for a Safe, Healthy, and Sustainable Cleveland
The National Peace Academy, working with Ohio state and local government, community, academic, and business leaders, has initiated an ongoing learning forum, Community Inquiry for a Safe, Healthy, and Sustainable Cleveland. The intention is to realize synergistic relationships across the innovative ideas, people, organizations, and processes already at work in Cleveland and to inquire into possibilities for new relationships and capacities for creating new social, economic and political opportunities in Cleveland to address the profound needs of the community.
The purpose of the National Peace Academy’s Peace Learning in and with Communities program is to strengthen communities’ abilities to address issues of violence and to create peaceful, healthy, and thriving communities through peace learning opportunities.
