I hold a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from UC Santa Barbara and am currently Assistant Professor at the United Nations-affiliated University for Peace in Ciudad Colón, Costa Rica, where I research, write, and teach about strategies for progressive personal, social, and environmental change. I am the editor of a recent volume addressing resistance studies (Beyond Resistance: The Future of Freedom, Nova Science Publishers, 2007). In addition, I recently published a novel, The Purpose of Life, which explores many of the same issues addressed in my academic work. Finally, I work with individuals to facilitate the DecisionMaker method of personal change.
