Subject: National Peace Academy referral from (your name)

Hello - I thought you would be interested in the effort to establish a National Peace Academy in the United States, so I requested that this invitation be sent to you.

A National Peace Academy will educate for peace. Definition: Educare' (Latin) - to draw forth; to lead out. Imagine an academic community dedicated to drawing forth the essential peacebuilder in all of us while demonstrating the principles of peace in its everyday functioning. In April 2008 a group of planners gathered to envision a National Peace Academy and took on the shared responsibility of making that vision a reality. Since the April Vision Meeting, there has been an overwhelmingly positive response.

Some of the objectives under consideration for the National Peace Academy include the advance and support of:

  • Existing peace education and peacebuilding efforts
  • The study of the phenomena of peace
  • Research, program development, training, and education for professional and citizen practice of peace and peacebuilding
  • A worldwide network of peace academies
  • Structures and programs in government, military, business, and civil society for a culture of peace

More information is online at www.nationalpeaceacademy.us.

The National Peace Academy is being designed utilizing Appreciative Inquiry, an inclusive, co-creative group design process that calls forth the vision of what is possible while drawing upon the best of what all participants have to offer. Initial vision and planning meetings are being conducted at Case Western Reserve University, one of the key centers for the development of Appreciative Inquiry.

I thought you would like to join the mailing list, but I have not signed you up - you must specifically request it. This is required to protect you from others signing you up without your knowledge, and to confirm that the National Peace Academy has your correct email address. (The message includes links for the recipient to click and confirm.) Financial contributions may be made at www.nationalpeaceacademy.us.

Please join me in this historic effort. Join the National Peace Academy mailing list or make a contribution now.
